The Yumwoof Product Overview

There are many reasons my dogs love me and it not only the fact that they get fed Yumwoof every day.

At Our Dogs World 101 I am lucky enough to be able to try many different products from raw foods, supplements, training aides and everything in between which delights my furry mates no end.

Our goal at Our Dogs World 101 is to give you honest articles and reviews on products I have personally used with my dogs, as I am a firm believer that you can’t honestly promote or give honest opinions on anything unless you have tried it, or in doggy owners world our dogs have!

So this article will be an honest review on Yumwoofs Perfect Kibble from both my laboratory assistants Saffron and Narla.

Saffron and Narla

What Is Yumwoof?

Simply put Yumwoof is a Natural Dog Food at an affordable price and is a partnership between some worlds best Vets and pet nutritionists.

There are no fillers, no artificial flavours and no by products which to me is especially important for my dogs.

The 4 BIG points for me are that it is scientifically backed, it is a complete and balanced meal, has all-natural ingredients and is made by a real chef.

I have even found 9 Gourmet Meals thanks to Yumwoof that are quick and easy to make at home in your own oven!

What Benefits Has It Given Saffron & Narla?

I think the biggest difference has been in their coats.

Before Yumwoof I am not saying their coats were in bad condition however they lacked any real shine, and for me a dog that has what I call a flat looking coat is missing something nutritionally.

Within less than a few weeks I noticed a huge difference in their coats, especially with Narla who is 12 years old and now she is on Yumwoof has the coat of a young pup.

My youngest dog Saffron has always tended to chew at herself which I initially thought may have been a flea problem or possibly an allergic reaction to what I was feeding her.

After many visits to the vet for allergy reaction tests the vets could find nothing.

Within a month of swapping her over to the Yumwoof perfect kibble her chewing stopped and has been this way for the past 6 months which is how long I have had both on this diet.

What Sets Yumwoof Apart from The Rest?

For me, well from Saffron and Narla as I am a dog whisperer and understand exactly what they are telling me, it is the ingredients.

The number 1 ingredient in this food is chicken and as we know chicken is high in protein unlike a lot of the meat meal products on the market today.

Below are the 14 High Quality Ingredients within Yumwoof Perfect Kibble:

  • Fresh Chicken
  • Eggs
  • Organic Coconut Oil
  • Coconut Glycerin
  • Gluten-Free Oats
  • Whole Peas
  • Carrots
  • Blueberries
  • Cranberries
  • Chia Seeds
  • Beef Liver
  • Seaweed
  • Pumpkin
  • Essential Vitamins and Minerals.

Some Science Facts – For All You Scientists Out There!

OK, so I am no expert when it comes to MCT, or as they call it in the science world, medium chain triglycerides (Try saying that quickly 3 times) however coconut oil does.

When I did some research on this, as I do with any new products I give to my dogs, I came across a study from NIH showing that MCT’s in coconut oil could help to improve their brain functions and also appeared to make them younger, the latter I have really seen my old lab, Narla.

Feeding Guidelines

The Pros Of Yumwood

  • Quality Ingredients
  • No need to refrigerate.
  • Is a complete and balanced diet for your dog.
  • No artificial preservatives
  • No artificial flavours
  • BPA free
  • Looks and tastes so good, I am even tempted to eat it!
  • Cooked in house by a qualified Chef.

The Cons Of Yumwood

  • The biggest downside for me with this product is the size/price ratio.
  • Only comes in one flavour – If your dog does not like Chicken, there is no other alternative product.
  • While Narla has 1 – 1 ½ cups a day, Saffron who is my Mastiff has 5 cups per day and because Yumwoof currently only comes in 3.5lb bags (About 14 Cups) it can be expensive.
  • Yumwoof really need to look at the large dog market and develop a cost-efficient product for these breeds and their owners, a market they are clearly missing out on at present.

I always order 5 or more bags at one time so as I can take advantage of their 30% discount.

  1. Oh wow! The fact that this product has actually helped your dog to stop chewing on herself is quite impressive. I really appreciate you providing some insight into this product because I have been looking for a healthier alternative for my pup, Olivia, who is a year and a half now, but every dry food I have seen doesn’t really fit what I want for her and the ones that do are way too pricey. I really like what I reas so I think I might give it a try.

    • Hi Stephanie,

Yes the benefits to both my dogs has been great. I have always fed them good quality food but this is one level up from anything I have had them on before.

Love the name Olivia, what breed is she?

If you do give it a try please let me know what you think in the comments below. Good or bad.

Can I ask what food you currently have Olivia on?

  2. I have a dog of my own and seeing him happy just makes me so happy. I actually recently saw that when dogs face away from you they are actually protecting you because their teeth are their first line of defense. So of course i want my dog to eat only the best food and snacks. I am definitely really interested in this product and it seems like your dogs love it! I also love the name of the brand and the my dog also loves chicken so no problem there. And the kibble looks like my dog would love it too!

    • Hi Nicholas,

I get the happy part, I am the same with my dogs in that they make me happy when I see them happy.

What kind of dog do you have?

I have my two assistants Narla my black lab and Saffron who is my Mastiff.

If you don’t mind me asking what are you currently feeding them?

      Woof Woof

  3. Hi Mark,
Thank you for this helpful review of Yumwoof food for dogs. My dog constantly scratches its legs in the evening, no matter the period of the year. I thought it was because of the heat, but he also does it in the winter. So I went to the Vet, and he told me it was an allergy and that there isn’t much to do about this. Now that I read your article, I understand that the food might be the problem. I’ll try the Yumwoof and see how it goes. Just a question, please. Does the Yumwoof good for all types of allergies? Also, how will it take to see good results on my dog?
    Thank you again!

    • Hey Daniella,

      Glad you enjoyed our review.

Yumwoof is definitely good for food allergies, which by the sound of what you are saying could be what your dog is suffering from, especially being that he is constantly scratching through both winter and summer.

My girl Narla has been on Yumwoof for a little over a year now, and I would say that when I initially started her on it her chewing and scratching probably stopped within the first 10 days, and she has never looked healthier.

It was that good I am also feeding Saffron my Mastiff the same, as it is not also good for dogs with allergies, but an overall healthier option for dogs.

Let me know how you go with the Yumwoof and shout out if I you would like to no more.

  4. Sadly my dog passed away three years ago, so he is unfortunately no longer with us. But he used to love these. I would give him them as treats when we were oout and about. Being a wippet cross, he was quick at burning off the calories so he could much his way through a few of these on one outing fairly easiliy.

  5. Hi Mark. Thank you for very interesting review. I was testing different food for my dog and to be fair I wasn’t always happy with quality. But looking on your post, Yumwoof may be what I was looking for. Its natural, fill of supplements and price is quite reasonable. Looking forward to test it in practice.

  6. Hi there again, Mark!
Your website is really a great help for dog lovers. You explain so clearly all the advantages and disadvantages of what to feed our dogs! It’s really a shame that the best products are most of the time too expensive. Nevertheless, when you assume having a pet you must know it comes with the package and being careless is not an option.
Thanks a lot for sharing and stay safe!

  8. Hi Mark,

Thanks for the review on Yum Woof Perfect Kibble. I’m not sure if we can buy this in New Zealand yet. Have had our dogs on raw food for years now with some dry food for treats. One of the things that set us on that path was that we had a Black Lab who started to have fits on the dry food we were using at the time. Soon after we swapped to raw he stopped having the fits.

Its great to see that Yum Woof Perfect Kibble has a focus on high quality ingredients and includes some organic product as well. No artificial flavours and preservatives in a pet food is a move in the right direction. As a pet owner it shows a product that cares for the health of the animal.

    Cheers

    • Hi Andrew,

While my black Labrador didn’t have fits on her previous food she did have a very dry skin and dull coat, but since switching her over to Yumwoof her coat looks amazing and her dry skin has completely disappeared.

Raw feeding is definitely the way to go and Yumwoof makes this really easy!

      Cheers,

      Mark

  9. Always good to read about products that provide healthy nutrition for pets and YumWoof seems to offer a good range for Dogs. Although I also like the chart that show how much food by weight is required as this is helpful for owners. Thanks for the read an best of luck

  10. My dog loves chicken. And I can’t wait to get him to try Yumwoof. I am excited about finding artisanal dog food. I know the benefits it has and I agree with the scientific facts you have outlined. The only think I didn’t like was how small this package is. But if my dog really likes it, I would not mind to by it occasionally.

  11. Hi mark! Thanks for sharing this. “Perfect kibble” sounds completely new to me, I am shocked not to have heard about this meal before. After seeing your recommendation, definitely trying it out to see if my dog likes it Personally? I am very selective of the kind of food I feed my dog with. The perfect kibble does seem very natural.
