Is your dog having trouble with digestion? Check out our review of the Yumwoof Perfect Probiotics and see how they may help.

As a dedicated dog parent, you must have had many sleepless nights searching for solutions to your dog’s health problems. Whether it be your fur buddy is suffering from separation anxiety or just a case of an upset stomach.

One thing that might have crossed your eyes is Probiotics for dogs. Probiotics are an elixir of the gut and possibly the only solution your furry friend needs.

In this article, we have reviewed Yumwoof Perfect Probiotics Food Topper, discussed how probiotics work, their benefits for dogs, and much more.

What are Probiotics?

A dog’s intestines contain billions of bacteria that are collectively called the microbiome. In case of an imbalance of the microbiome, symptoms like excessive gas and loose stool may occur. Probiotics are good bacteria that encourage intestinal health by creating a balance.

How Do Probiotics Work?

The main job of probiotics is to maintain a healthy balance in your dog’s body. Think of it as keeping your dog’s body in neutral.

Probiotics are living microorganisms or good bacteria. When these microorganisms are well-fed, they have a highly beneficial impact.

● Help your dog’s body digest food.

● Probiotics decrease the pH value in the gut, and this helps promote the growth of good bacteria.

● Keep bad bacteria from getting out of control and making your dog sick.

● Helps to create vitamins.

● Help support the cells that line your dog’s gut to prevent bad bacteria from entering the blood.

● Breakdown and absorb medications.

Always talk with your vet before giving a probiotic supplement to your dog. They might interfere with medicines your dog may be taking. If your female dog is pregnant or mother feeding, check with your vet before giving any supplement.

When administering Yumwoof Perfect Probiotics to a dog, it’s important that you follow the instructions on the label. Improperly administered probiotics can be destroyed in the stomach and do not reach the intestines where they are intended to perform their function.

What Are the Benefits of Probiotics for Dogs?

The research on Probiotics has entered into an exciting era, and the benefits it can give to your dog are limitless.

The benefits of probiotics are amazing for your dog’s overall health. Let’s take a look at some of them:

The good bacteria

Your furry companion needs certain bacteria to stay healthy. When your dog gets an infection or diarrhea, there are more bad bacteria, knocking their system out of balance. Probiotics are often referred to as “good bacteria.” Good bacteria help eliminate extra bad bacteria from your dog’s body, returning the balance. Probiotics mimic the naturally occurring bacteria that are already living in your dog’s body.

Improved digestion

Probiotics deliver maximum effectiveness to your dog’s gut. They aid digestion in dogs and improve nutrient absorption. At the right levels, probiotics can reduce digestive symptoms such as gas, bloating, pain, diarrhea, and constipation. Probiotics lower the pH level in your dog’s colon that might help stool move faster through it.

Fewer allergies

Sometimes the allergies in dogs are caused by an imbalance of bacteria in the gut. Giving your dog probiotics may lessen skin allergy symptoms. Several studies support that dog probiotics can be effective for allergy management.

Supports overall immune system

Yumwoof probiotics are also known to boost your dog’s immune system. Like humans, dogs’ immune systems are located in their digestive tract. This creates ample opportunities for useful bacteria to interact with the immune cells and increase overall health.

Reduce stress and prevent anxiety

One of the first signs your dog isn’t feeling well is a behavioral change. Often, dogs with unhealthy gut bacteria and digestion problems may also experience emotional issues.

Decrease side effects of antibiotics

While antibiotics are effective at fighting infection, they do not discriminate between good and bad bacteria. They are known culprits in causing diarrhea by killing good bacteria. So, antibiotics may also cause diarrhea or other gastrointestinal side effects in your dog. You can ward off unpleasant side effects of antibiotics by giving your dog probiotics during the antibiotic treatment and a few days beyond.

Improves diarrhea

Another benefit of Probiotics is that they can be used to improve diarrhea and gastrointestinal distress caused by:

● Stress due to any disturbance in routine

● Abrupt changes to your dog’s diet, like eating a new food

● A bacterial imbalance caused by long-term antibiotic use

● Infections that are caused by microbial overgrowth may clear out with probiotics as well.

You might consider giving your healthy pooch a probiotic if your fur buddy is prone to developing diarrhea in stressful situations.

When Should You Give Your Dog Probiotics?

If your dog is experiencing digestive problems, then you should consider giving probiotics a try.

There are various reasons where an imbalance can occur in your dog’s intestinal tract. Senior dogs, puppies, and dogs on antibiotics are more prone to these imbalances.

Your dog’s brain is attached to their guts via the central nervous system. Sometimes, simply the change in environment or routine can cause an imbalance in your dog’s intestinal tract. So, dogs with anxious behavior benefit greatly from the use of Probiotics.

How Long Does it Take for Probiotics to Work?

The rate at which Probiotics work vary depending upon the specific issue it is used for. Overall, you will see improvements in your dog’s allergies, skin, digestion, and signs of longevity within 30 days.
● An improvement in digestive upset might be improved within a couple of days with the help of the Yumwoof Probiotic.
● For immune health, your dog should experience a positive impact in about 4 weeks.
● For dogs with anxious behaviors, you can expect to see improvements within 6 weeks with excellent results.

Is Yumwoof Probiotics a Complete Solution?

Although there are many health benefits of the Yumwoof Probiotics food topper, it is not appropriate for every situation regarding the health of your dog.

Yumwoof Probiotics are not recommended for dogs with severely compromised GI tracts or those undergoing cancer therapy. If your dog has severe health issues, it’s best to seek advice from a vet before putting your dog on Probiotics.

Can Human Probiotics Be Used on Dogs?

Yes, dogs can take human probiotics as they are not harmful to canines. However, they do not provide the same benefits as a dog-specific probiotic supplement.

Some people give yogurt products to their dogs, but the efficiency of yogurt is still unproven. It contains other ingredients, like dairy, and dogs can be intolerant to that level of dairy.

There are only a few yogurt-related products that guarantee live bacteria numbers. It’s vital to use a product that has an effective number of probiotic bacteria. These useful bacteria must also remain alive on the shelf and reach the gastrointestinal tract where they have the most impact.

The most important thing to consider while administering Probiotics is to demonstrate safety. Once you know the safe way to administer Probiotics, it can have highly beneficial effects on dogs.

There are numerous different choices when it comes to probiotics for dogs, ranging from supplements to probiotic dog foods. Whether your dog has anxiety, experiencing digestive upset, or has compromised immune health, Yumwoof gives the right probiotic solution for your dog.

  1. I have been learning that a healthy balance of bacteria is good for healthy dogs. The same applies to us.

Probiotics for dogs have benefits that can help our dog digest food, make and absorb vitamins and minerals, and keep a brick hall immune system. I feel that Yum Woof is an adequate solution to start giving probiotics to Bruno, my dog.

  3. Hmm, I hadn’t thought to add a probiotic supplement to our dogs’ food, but considering how much probiotics can help with human digestion, it seems to make a lot of sense!

Our dog’s anxiety seems to mostly show up when there are loud thunderstorms or fireworks, so I don’t know that this would be the right solution for that (given that it could take 30 days to see results). It would be nice if it could help during the Spring when we get a lot of those loud thunderstorms though. How long does a single container of Yumwoof last when used daily? Would a single container last at least 30 days for us to see if it can help?

    • Hi Aly,

If your dog only seems to be effected during lightning and thunderstorms you should have a read of an article/review I did on Thunder Shirts and how they helped my Mastiff, Saffron.

The article is Thunder Shirts For Dogs – Taking The Pet Out Of Petrified

The Yumwoof Perfect Probiotics comes with 90 servings so will last between 1 – 3 months depending on the size of your dog.

I hope this helps and please let me know if you need anything else and whether you go with the thunder shirt or the probiotics or even both.

  4. I do have two dogs, and I do always search for various ailments LOL.  We love them.  My one dog, Teddy always has stomach issues and he gets tear stains, mouth stains (fur under mouth) and stains on his rear end.  He has white fur, so I have tried many things to help him.  He also has a very sensitive stomach.  I have finally figured it out.  I  make their dog food now by scratch and he just finished a dose of probiotics that the vet had prescribed. I was actually looking for a good probiotic to add to their food.  This looks like the solution.  Thank you!

    • Hi Leahrae,

It sounds like Teddy is a real character just by his name LOL.

Can I ask what product your vet recommended and how successful was it in treating the condition?

Yumwoof Probiotics is a great product and I know Teddy will love it as much as my two do.

  5. My dog eats well and is usually bouncing and full of energy and playful. There are times though when he eats and seems to be a bit puny and I wonder what is going on with him. This article of yours recommending probiotics makes sense. After all I take probiotics regularly. It never occurred to me that my darling dog could benefit from the same treatment. I am going to try it. Thank you.

  6. With four older dogs, there is always one (or two) that have some kind of medical issues. From reading your very detailed description of Probiotics for dogs, this sounds like a good additive for them. I love the fact that it can be added to their food simply as a shake on topper. My dogs hate pills and have gotten very good about digging around the pills in their food, leaving them in the bottom of the bowl.

    • Hi Cathy,

Your 4 dogs sound exactly like my two!

I used to give them their probiotics in tablet form but they would always manage to eat around them which is why I looked into the Yumwoof Probiotic.

I now know they are getting their dose every time.

  7. so another way is it to calm the dog? I don’t know much about dogs but I would forward this to people who do and want to make sure their dogs are healthy as probiotics looks promising and how it can improve a dogs life. A owner should never worry about their dog as they are great companions for human beings. I am a dog person but not to the point where I know what do as in their health and what’s good for them. I can say that it is important to watch your dogs healthy life and taking care of it’s needs. Probiotics is very useful and recommend it to every dog owner out there!!
