Secrets To Dog Training Review – By Our Dogs World

With so many dog training videos and books available today it can be a hard choice making sure you get the right one for you and your doggy.

In my review of Secrets To Dog Training with resound trainer Danial Stevens I am going to take you through my thoughts on this book and what benefits it could bring to you and your best friend.

What Is Secrets To Dog Training & How Will It Help?

Secrets to Dog Training brings to you an oddly detailed and very thorough observation on the way to both prevent and handle some more common problem behaviors shown by our dogs by dogs.

As someone who has owned and worked with some challenging little mutts over the years, I have found myself spending great amounts of time searching the internet for good and reliable resources on this subject.

The first thing I will say about this book is the amount of knowledge and detail I found within the pages of the compendium really did blow me away as this is something I have normally only found on the internet.

What’s In The Book?

Unlike a lot of the “So Called Dog Training Material” available both online and through bookstores the information in this is not only updated but dare I say it, reliable (GASP!!)

Yes, you heard me correctly – this training model is an entire new kettle of fish, or in this case DOG.

The books are by a seasoned dog trainer, and you’ll be able to relax within the knowledge that every one of the guidelines and advice included are tried and tested from Stevens’ real-life experiences as a very experienced and knowledgeable dog trainer.

The great thing is you also get a direct to the point, simple to follow 30-minute downloadable video that shows real-life samples of doggies behaving badly together with solutions and remedies correct them.

Solve all your Dog Behavior problems with Secrets to Dog Training!

What’s Covered In Secrets To Dog Training?

There’s a reasonably extensive and extremely good range of very detailed information jam packed into this guide, and unlike so many other guides its not just the normal old behaviors that are covered here!

The book starts off with new-owner advice (how to decide on a puppy/dog, information that will help you know where the best place is to get your new dog, different breed information and what to look out for, puppy/dog-proofing your home, your very first pet visit, house training, etc).

After that, you will move on to the more advanced training like behavior such as:

  • Aggression
  • Dominance
  • Chewing
  • Digging
  • Excessive Barking
  • Separation Anxiety

And a lot more.

It will also take you through some intermediate level dog obedience commands, some more common health related issues and dog problems, cat and dog coexistence, flea control, heatstroke and more.

Have you ever wanted to teach your dog some cool tricks or some advanced commands? Not a problem Steven’s also covers this and so much more.

As I mentioned before this great package also comes with a 30-minute downloadable video which gives an awesome look at a dog’s quest to be the alpha dog and the way you’ll prevent this.

The books quick steps to prevent bad behaviors like potty training all the way through to leash pulling are made so easy you’ll start wanting to try them out on your doggy right away.

A Really Interesting Part.

Along with everything that is listed above, there’s also super impressive section on dog whispering.

Now just in case you haven’t heard of dog whispering, it is a type of dog training supported by a philosophy of clear communication and mutual respect.

I am sure you have heard of Cesar Millan and the hugely successful documentary series “The Dog Whisperer”

Well it is now becoming increasingly well-known as an alternate and humane way to discipline and train your dog.

Secrets To Dog Training Has Dedicated A Complete Section To Dog Whispering.

In this section, Daniel Stevens explains the background and origins of the technique, a way to utilize voice and visual communication to your best advantage, and the way to use the technique to gently but still with authority correct and train your dog.

The Step-by-Step instructional guides are included for the most used commands like sit, stay, come, down etc.

For me it made for some really interesting reading – and I will admit, after trying out the fundamentals on my very own and sometimes stubborn Mastiff I was absolutely amazed at how effective the techniques set out in this section were. Highly Recommended!

I Love Freebies (Who Doesn’t?)

You have to admit there is something we all love about getting something for free.

And, yes I will admit my tarsier-like inquisitiveness has probably led me into some less-than-productive purchases (You just need to ask my wife) over the years, In the case of purchasing Secrets To Dog Training I’m happy to report to both my wife and you, it hasn’t let me down.

The freebies that you get with this book are actually useful(wow!)

What Is This Cost

The book itself costs $39.95.

For this price, you get incredibly detailed and extremely easy to follow manual on training your dog, how to prevent handling and behavior issues and a whole heap of general-knowledge tips and advice.

Another great thing with this book is that you also get a few practical freebies:

  • You will get four bonus books, dealing with advanced house training, How-To’s and troubleshooting (this includes both the crate- and paper toilet training methods)
  • A detailed look at fixing and often reversing canine aggression
  • The best ways to effectively groom your dog (this includes information on taking care of their coats and is breed specific)
  • The one that most dogs hate, nail-clipping How-To’s
  • And something I have had many clients ask me about, ways to begin training your dog for security work. This doesn’t mean you have to take your dog out on security patrols but it does give you some great basic training tips that will have them guarding your place at night.

As I mentioned earlier, there’s a bonus 30-minute downloadable video which takes a no-fuss approach to practical solutions for dog obedience issues.

The freebie I think offers the most value here though, is the personalized consultation with a member of the Kingdom Of The Pets team.

What this gives you is, if you own a dog that you’d like some individual attention and advice with, you’ll be able to flick them an email and get a personalized, thorough reply packed with expert advice and practical tips.

Secrets to Dog Training: My Final Thoughts.

Overall, I’m really impressed with this package.

Having lived with, worked with and owned dogs on and off my whole life this really did open my eyes.

Since I was 6 years old when my parents bought me my first puppy until now, some 50 odd years later I really thought that I was better-prepared than a lot of people to handle the behaviors and quirks of our four-legged friends.

To be totally honest with you, since reading this book I really believe my pre, Secrets to Dog Training self was (embarrassingly I admit) perhaps to a small degree more complacent than knowledgeable

I have learned so much more since reading this, than I ever picked up during a near-lifetime’s worth of contact with dogs.

Please, do me a favor and answer this question honestly. Do you have a way to stop your dog from pulling on their leash while out walking and not using a choker or check-chain?

Many people do not so you are not alone, however a lot of my clients after going through this book do now!

So many of the training techniques inside this book present a refreshing and new common-sense, down-to-earth approach to dog training while others will need a bit more effort (take the dog whispering as an example) but will give you some pretty awesome results.

I really enjoyed the way that more than just one training technique is detailed. This allows the owner to select and choose the training types that best suit themselves and their individual dogs.

We, at Our Dogs World, have no drama in highly recommending this package to anyone who owns, or is thinking about owning a dog.

Lastly, you don’t necessarily need to have a “problem pet” for this manual to be of benefit and value.

There’s information included that will be helpful to all dog owners.

In a nutshell: Highly Recommended.

  2. Hi many thanks for this article though I don’t have a dog yet I know prepping is really important, I absolutely love dogs so I definitely know I would be needing this book.

One thing I like about this is that it’s written by a great dog trainer, you mentioned it also includes information for new dog owners, that for sure has got be hooked. Usually some books or videos fail to mention or include owners to be which is quite sad because where else are new owners going to turn too!

    • Hi Sariyah,

Yes preparation is definitely the key when buying your first dog or puppy.

I agree with your comment regarding a lot of animal training videos and books fail to cover new owners and lets be honest they really are the ones who will benefit most.

Secrets To Dog Training covers this which is a tick to Cesar.

Good luck with the prepping an I look forward to hearing about your new doggo when you get it.

  3. Hey Mark, it’s helpful to know that this training was written by someone who has had prior experience. This way, I’ll know that the information written is useful and won’t point me in the wrong direction. I think canine aggression can be a serious problem if not treated properly so this book would be useful in helping dog owners. Many dogs can be misunderstood with their aggression especially if there is an underlying problem. Your review on Secrets to Dog Training was very insightful.

    • Hi Gabriel,

Canine aggression can be a serious problem, unfortunately though it is more often than not the owners fault and not the dog, or specific breed.

      Thanks,

  4. I have hear about this documentary series called “The Dog Whisperer”. And I find it super cool that you can establish a connection with your dog this way. But I didn’t know that this type of training was covered in Secrets To Dog Training. This point by itself has made me make up my mind to buy the book!

    • Hi Paolo,

It definitely was one of the better dog training shows to air on TV and Cesar Millan is definitely a well-respected trainer.

I hope you get some good value from the book.

As I said in my review it’s not for everyone but I still reference back on some of it all these years on.
