I have always given my puppies powdered milk and they’ve always started at one scoop of powder into two scoops of water while between one to 10 days old, and two scoops of powder mixed into three scoops of water after they’ve grown past 10 days.

I also give this to my two dogs who are both fully grown and have no eating or stress related problems and they love this, for them it is a nutritional treat other than water.
My dogs get all the necessary vitamins and minerals to keep their bones healthy and for puppies it also ensures their proper development and growth.
Human milk is not good for dogs, so using Ag powdered goats milk is a safe and healthy way to be able to give your puppy or dog the goodness of milk.

How To Mix and Feed Powdered Milk For Puppies
PetAg say you should gently shake or stir one part powdered goats milk formula into two parts warm water (A part can be a teaspoon, tablespoon or a cup). It also states that you should never make up more than you intend to use within a 24 hour period.
While the manufacturer says you should not use a blender, I do and simply use it on pulse mode to do my mixing and have never had any issues.
Once you have it mixed ALWAYS keep it refrigerated.
It is highly recommended that all puppies should be on their mothers milk only for at least the first 2 – 3 days if possible, as this milk gives the puppy extra nutrition and some temporary immunity against some diseases.
The below are some feeding recommendations directly from PetAg which I have broken down into bullet points for easy reference.
- Warm reconstituted GME to room or body temperature before serving.
- Feed puppies 2 tablespoons (30mL) of liquid GME per 4 ounces (115g) of body weight.
- The daily feeding rate should be divided into equal portions for each feeding.
- Puppies’ needs will vary and this amount may have to be increased or decreased, depending on the individual.
- Young and/or weak puppies may need to be fed reconstituted GME every 3 or 4 hours.
- Older puppies do well when fed reconstituted GME every 8 hours.
- Weigh the puppy daily to assure adequate feeding.
- Consult your veterinarian for additional advice.
- The PetAg 2 oz. (60mL) or 4 oz. (120mL) Small Animal Nurser is suited for feeding most puppies.
- When puppies are old enough to lap, begin offering reconstituted GME in a saucer.
- During the 6th week mix reconstituted GME with Esbilac 2nd Step Puppy Weaning Food.
- Use of GME and 2nd Step will allow the puppy to be gradually switched to solid food.

Our Miniature Aussie had a huge litter, 10 pups including the usual runt at 4 oz, and couldn’t supply enough milk for them.
We tried both the standard Esbilac formula (premixed liquid) and this goat’s milk powder, and they by far seemed to prefer the goat’s milk.
They fought and fussed, often resisting the Esbilac liquid, but took the goat’s milk eagerly for the most part.
I found it pretty easy to mix up using warm distilled water and a wire whisk (applied somewhat vigorously) to get a mix with no lumps.
One note: all the various baby/pet bottles were a bust for us. For some reason the manufacturers DO NOT PIERCE THE DAMN NIPPLES – maybe because it’s almost impossible to do successfully to get them to flow properly.
Good luck doing it yourself! They either don’t flow or they flood and try to drown the babies. If you want hours of frustration and panic because you can’t feed hungry pups (or whatever), go ahead and waste money on the little bottles and (unpierced) rubber nipples.
We had all of our success with syringes – tiny 1 cc units when the pups were tiny, then 3cc units, and finally the larger irrigation syringes with the longer, curved tips, which worked great after snipping the tips just a bit shorter.
Our little runt is now up to eight pounds and on solid food, and thriving.
We lost some of the pups while fighting bad bottles and some other issues, but the rest are happy, healthy, playful pups.

This was a wonderful product until PetAg changed their recipe (again). Heads Up! PetAg no longer includes probiotics or prebiotics in their Esbilac or Goat’s Milk Esbilac!! Now for a healthy animal you will need to add both to your animal’s milk.
BOO PetAg. I’m looking for a viable alternative and will comment if I find one.
Our Conclusion
While I will continue to give this to my older dogs because they really do enjoy this stuff I can’t give you an honest opinion in regard to a puppy milk formula.
What I can say is that out of 2,778 reviews on Amazon regarding this product they have 86% of customers giving PetAg powdered milk for puppies a 5 star rating and 2% giving it a 1 star rating.
I have also reached out to some breeders who swear by this product, so on that information alone I can confidently recommend this powdered milk for puppies.

I have heard good comments about Pet Ag. And having a pup at home is perfect to test their product. Thank you for the specific indications. I didn’t know we could not make more than we needed for a 24 hour window. I did know that percentage we mix with warm water has to be carefully calculated.
I will share with you what results I find.
I have never heard of PetAG powdered goats milk, I had puppies all through my childhood, but we always had to momma dog right there to take care of her puppies. I did not know that powdered milk for puppies was a thing. This is good information for breeders and those who have puppies.
