Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats – The In’s and Out’s

OK, imagine this.

You have been out for the day and waiting at home patiently for your return is your faithful doggy.

Now as soon as you walk in the door its like you have been gone for years, they jump all over you giving you more puppy kisses than the last time you went out.

You love this welcome but oh wow how much does their breath stink?

All your faithful friend is trying to do is show you just how much they love and miss you, but no matter how hard you try you just can’t get over that stinky breath!

This is where the Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats can help.

Not only will these freshen up even the worse case of smelly puppy breath, but they also greatly assist with gum health and significantly reduce plaque and tartar building up in your dogs mouth.

What Are The Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats?

The Greenies dental sticks are designed to help fight bad breath, tartar build-up and plaque in our dogs to help maintain the ultimate in oral hygiene.

The Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats are an all natural dog chew that are very low in fat content and include various vitamins essential to keeping your puppy or dog happy and healthy.

So How Do The Greenies Work?

Unlike many other brands of dental treats on the market today where you have to give a few of them each day, one Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treat is all it takes to give your dog or puppy fresh breath, clean teeth and most importantly keeps them happy!

The Greenies dental chews have a chewy texture that dogs and puppies love, and due to this chewy texture there is less chance of dangerous gastric blockages associated with some other dental chews.

Due to the unique and original texture of the Greenies Dog Chews they have the ability to clean down to the gum line to fight against plaque and tartar build-up and to freshen even the baddest of breath.

Are Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats Good For Dogs?

100% YES!

As I mentioned earlier they can greatly help in maintaining healthy teeth and gums if used correctly.

However, like any treat we give to our dogs and puppies if they eat them to fast there is the possibility (Even though they are of a chewy texture) that they can swallow sharp pieces of the chew which could hurt, or even worse damage their throats or internal organs.

My advice is to always watch your dog or puppy when giving them this treat or any other treat or chew toy.

What Customers Say About Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats.

5.0 out of 5 stars They love them!

I give Greenies to my 2 dogs every Saturday night after I wash the dishes.

I don’t know how they do it, but they seem to know when it’s Saturday. They sit in the kitchen eagerly waiting for me to finish the dishes.

When I’m done, I say to them “what’s next?”. They coax me upstairs to get their beloved Greenies. I guess they like them!

5.0 out of 5 stars the tooth cleaning benefits are great

I used to give my GSD greenies rarely, just when she had dog breath from eating god knows what on her walk.

They are expensive, and so I saw no reason to give them to her every day.

But as she got older, her teeth became stained, and she really hates it when I brush her teeth, I can do it, but it is always a struggle.

So last year, I started giving her one greenie every day, and the stains have mostly disappeared from her teeth.

An older dog’s quality of life can be very much affected by tooth decay, so I am glad to have found that greenies work so well to clean her teeth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Picky eater dog is obsessed, we order size regular instead of large

My dog looks forward to his bedtime Greenie all day. We have our routine down. Right before I head to bed, I grab the bag and shake it and ask “who wants a Greenie?”

My dog, who is usually already asleep, jumps up and runs to the backdoor. I open the door and he runs out to quickly do his business.

Then he trots back with a huge smile on his face knowing that he’s about to get his Greenie.

I always keep a huge stash because I’m afraid of disappointing him if I ever were to run out.

I will add that my dog is a picky eater. We have tried competitor brands such as Whimzees and he literally won’t touch those.

I will add that I’m not sure how much these actually do for dental hygiene (I can’t say one way or another).

My dog is 5 years old with beautiful teeth (a lot of people comment how clean and white they are… he’s never had a professional teeth cleaning), but his breath isn’t the best.

My dog is 75 lbs and technically should get the large based on his weight, but we get the regular size and they’re perfect (and cheaper).

2.0 out of 5 stars Too expensive, didn’t do much.

This product was OK, but did not make a big difference in the bad breath my dogs tend to have. It’s an OK product because it probably is better for them to have than nothing at all.

I give 2 stars instead of 3 solely because I subscribed and saved this product to be delivered every month, and after 2 deliveries the price increased $10! Thank goodness Amazon notified me about it, because now this product is completely not worth the price.

2.0 out of 5 stars Our Dogs Love Them, BUT Get Stomach Problems

We have an old dog who still has a lot of spunk but has a stomach that seems to get more particular every few months.

We’ve been able to make a great impact in her most frustrating GI/urinary problems by switching her to grain free food.

Little did we know that the occasional Greenie was responsible for stomach upset.

We finally figured out that some of these episodes were happening after we gave her Greenies, checked the ingredients, and sure enough, these things are packed with wheat.

Buyer beware– if your dog is sensitive to grains and wheat, these are not a good treat (no matter how hard they try to convince you otherwise!).

Myth or Fact – Is My Dogs Mouth Cleaner Than Mine?

We have all heard this question before, or searched it on the internet and while some people believe this to be true others still believe it to be a myth.

I often think how can their saliva be cleaner than ours? Especially watching some things my two dogs get into on their daily outings!

Most vets you speak to will tell you that while its not true, the bacteria found in most dogs mouths won’t harm you in any way.

So my advice is if you love kissing your dog or puppy as much as they love kissing you, just do it!

Check this out if you are looking for some great healthy treats to reward your dog.

I hope you found this review of the Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats helpful and if you have any questions about this product or anything you would like to see regarding your dogs dental hygiene please comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

  1. I have not tried these with my dog, I feed my dog a raw diet with chickens feet and drumsticks they seem to do the trick at keeping his pearlys nice and clean. I will have to give greenies a try for a change up. That price is pretty high for a bag of 12 that is for sure. I spend 2.50 on a package of thirty chickens feet and does the same trick, cleans the teeth and his breathe never stinks unless I give him fish. Love the mastiff great dogs.

I’ll let ya know when I try them my review.

    regards

    • Hi Frank,

Yes the raw diet is becoming fairly popular with some dog owners and I have written a few articles on this if you want to have a look, with one of them being Benefits Of Raw Feeding Dogs which I would love your input on.

If you do try the Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats I would love to hear your thoughts.

      Thanks for visiting my site.

  2. I’ve used these in the past for my dogs and didn’t have any problems.

Although I do remember a lawsuit against this company back when I was in high school… maybe like 2007 or so? The lawsuit was for MILLIONS but I don’t recall ever hearing the final verdict. And the incident that occurred could have been a fluke, I’m not sure.

Like I said before, I’ve gotten these for my dogs and they worked great. Every time we would go to the Vet for a checkup, he would always say “teeth and gums look great” so the Greenies had to have done something right.

Great article on what I believe is a 100% completely safe dental chew. Thank you, Mark, for the article.

    • Hi Caleb,

I to have been giving my dogs Greenies for years and never had any problems.

I do remember a couple back in about 2005 I think, that took NuTec (The maker of Greenies) to court regarding the death of their dog but other than that I am not familiar with any other cases or what happened in that one.

Thanks for the comment and for visiting my website.

  4. This is a very interesting article that I had no idea about. I never tried this brand on my dog, but I will do put it on by bucket list for the next order that I do. Indeed I am very picky when it comes to dog breath, not that mine has it, but could be better… thank you for this article.

  6. Hi Mark.  This is a great review of the Greenies Regular Dental Dog Treats. Very detailed and comprehensive. The pros and cons section is very useful. I also like the section that explains how it works. I would definitely like to try this, my dog, however, is under 5 lbs. Do you have any recommendations for smaller dogs?

    • Hi Anna,

Greenies in my opinion are the best dental treats available.

For your dog who is under 5lbs I would recommend the Greenies Teenie range, which you can check by clicking that link.

Let me know if you need any more information on these and I will be glad to help.

Thanks for visiting our website and for you comment.
